Adapt has partnered with UK based sustainable knitware company EcoKnitware and pioneering digital knitting machine producer Kniterate to produce the protest scarf designs on a strictly made-to-order basis. EcoKnitware construct the scarves from yarn that is 90% wool, 10% Cashmere; both fibres are fully traceable and sourced from Lanecardate.
Kniterate is a digital knitting machine that wants to change fashion the same way desktop 3D printers are revolutionising manufacturing; minimising waste and enabling small production quantities. EcoKnitware are currently working towards collaborating with farmers, spinners and dyers in the UK, to create a locally produced yarn that matches the quality and feel of yarns sourced from abroad yet at a significantly reduced eco-footprint.
The yarn is 100% made in Italy. Lanecardate is among the few yarn producers able to control directly its entire supply chain: the greasy wool is purchased directly at source and combed, dyed and spun in Italy. Origin, traceability and compliance to the standards of Textiles & Health and TF are certified and guaranteed
