Adapt is run by Josie Tucker and Richard Ashton. We run our own campaigns and communications in house. We work with different organisations on a commission basis, to help design, communicate and enable companies’ and organisations’ climate and sustainability related projects. Our visual communication work spans digital and physical design, copywriting, concepts, moving image, art installations, workshops and events.

Green New Deal – Media takeover

Media Takeover, GND

We designed an alternative newspaper cover wrap for the Metro. Within it, we imagined a different media approach to the December 2019 election; climate change being the main focus. From the front page to the sports section, and every advert in between, we turned every tiny detail of the newspaper into a positive and parodical commentary on climate change and the urgent need for a Green New Deal. Once printed, the paper cover was applied to Metros and distributed across London by a large team of volunteers.

Climate Talk Guide Vol II

Publication, 2019

Prior to the Christmas 2019 period, we designed and printed climate conversation guides to help people navigate awkward family/friends/christmas party climate chat. We created fictional profiles and provided agony-aunt style advice on how to manage frustrating exchanges with people who don’t share the same viewpoint. We self-funded, and self-distributed these guides to almost a hundred locations around London to be taken for free by people. We also made accessible a digital PDF version for those out of London.

Don't be a Fossil Fool – Renewable campaign

Clean Energy Campaign

Our very first ever campaign and project started in september 2017, and was called 'Don't be a Fossil Fool.' The campaign encouraged people to take a first step into climate activism by switching to renewable energy. We created an engaging switching website, a poster campaign, and even printed beer mats with facts and persuasive arguments for making the change to clean energy at home or work. We also collaborated with animator David Renton to create a video that can be shared online. fossilfool.world

Climate Strike Placards – Free printouts

Posters, Climate Strikes

The Global Climate Strikes saw 4,000,000 people across the world leaving their jobs or school for the day to protest inaction on the climate crisis. We created a selection of protest placards to be easily printed by people at home, to take to the strike. The communications around the placard series centred on encouraging people to join the strikes. We were overjoyed when we saw photos of the placards in action in Europe, the USA and Australia.
